ALG’s Youth Empowerment Celebration: Uplifting the Next Generation at Afrik Impact

Denver– As America commemorates its 250th anniversary of independence and Colorado marks 150 years of statehood, one of Colorado’s most dynamic community organizations, the African Leadership Group (ALG), is celebrating a milestone of its own. This year, ALG turns 20, and it’s doing so in grand style, with a renewed commitment to empowerment, belonging, and community growth.

For two decades, ALG has been a cornerstone of leadership development and civic engagement for African immigrants and their families in Colorado. Now, as part of its annual flagship initiative, Afrik Impact, the organization is preparing a three‑week celebration filled with programs that highlight business innovation, cultural pride, youth empowerment, and community leadership.

The theme for this year’s Afrik Impact is “Many Roots, One Colorado”, accompanied by the trending hashtag #BelongingColorado – a message that resonates deeply in a state known for its diversity and shared progress.

Youth Empowerment Takes Center Stage

The first event in the lineup is the Youth Empowerment Celebration, scheduled for Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Denver Botanic Gardens. This gathering will spotlight the energy, creativity, and leadership potential of young people across Colorado’s African immigrant and diaspora communities.

Designed to equip youth with the skills, confidence, and resources to shape their futures, the program will feature interactive sessions, mentorship opportunities, and inspiring stories from young leaders who are already making a difference.

“ALG strongly believes in education and its power to expand opportunities and transform lives,” said Ousman Ba, ALG’s program director. “So, in addition to a broad spectrum of cultural and generational discussions, students will be exposed to educational opportunities that will expand their knowledge and introduce them to a new world perspective.”

A Celebration of Belonging and Vision

As ALG celebrates its 20th year, the organization’s work stands as a testament to what community‑driven leadership can achieve. From civic education to entrepreneurship, from cultural preservation to youth mentorship, ALG continues to build bridges that connect African immigrants to the broader Colorado community.

The Youth Empowerment Celebration is free and open to all- youth, families, and supporters alike. Gates open at 5 PM, and attendees can expect an evening of inspiration, connection, and celebration under the summer sky.
As Colorado and America mark their historic milestones, ALG’s Afrik Impact reminds us that the story of belonging is still being written, and that the next chapter begins with the youth.

See you at the Denver Botanic Gardens on July 24. Come ready to celebrate, connect, and empower.
